SOBA Tournament
The Rookie Red Select team's season has come to an end with a strong showing at the SOBA Provincial Tournament in Etobicoke this past weekend.
The boys came hard out of the gate with an impressive 24-9, 5 inning win Friday night over the Kitchener Panthers. The defense was stellar and the bats were very strong with all players registering hits and crossing the plate. Game two was a "sleepy" loss Saturday morning versus eventual tournament champions, the Bloordale Bombers, with a final score of 19-4 in 5 innings. The loss set up an elimination game against the Markham Mariners Saturday afternoon. The boys rallied from their early morning loss and battled hard, but unfortunately dropped a nail biter 18-14 in 7 innings. The coaches and parents couldn't be prouder of a group of players than this group. The Rookie Red Mustangs showed that they not only deserved to be at the tournament but could compete with the best! Great job Mustangs!!
